Tara Young

Tara Young set up the Steiner Academy Bristol in 2015, and taught its first Year 7 Class through to the beginning of their GCSEs. Over this time she has been researching what today’s children need to flourish – both at home and school. Key aspects include: the role of the adult, reliance on external stimulation, over-protection, standardised expectations, sensory obstacles, resilience, cultural role modelling, and diet. How do we provide a balance for our children? Freedom Vs structure, choices Vs expectations, free play alongside formal learning, physical confidence complementing academic ability, boredom and fun.
