Philippa is a neuroscientist, communicator, research manager and artist. She became interested in how we talk about death and dying when her mother was diagnosed with, and then passed away from, Motor Neurone Disease. In 2015 she created an exhibition and series of events in Bristol called ‘When death comes’, with an open invitation for people to contribute their creative work inspired by illness, death and bereavement. Her motivation was to help create spaces where people can share and talk about death as an important part of life. She is a trustee for Bristol charity The Harbour, which supports people through the pain, loss and isolation that can come with a life-threatening illness. She is passionate about helping people to have conversations that matter.
