In February 2018, Jake Tyler completed a challenge he set himself to travel 3000 miles on foot around mainland Britain. Jake wanted to demonstrate the healing power of movement and being immersed in nature and to reach out to those with mental health issues while reducing stigma. His BBC documentary, Mind Over Marathon documents him and 9 other individuals all with a history of mental illness, training for the 2017 London Marathon. The documentary proved pivotal in the conversation surrounding mental health, leading them to all be presented with the ‘Speaking Out’ award by Prince Harry at the Mind Awards.
Jake is now working on establishing a legacy for his journey and has appeared on the BBC One Show, and has his TedX talk ‘I’m Fine’ has nearly half a million views. His podcast ‘People Are F***ing Awesome’ explores the idea of how experiencing times of adversity can drive people to achieve extraordinary things.
