Mel McCree is an ecological educator, researcher and artist. Based at Bath Spa University, Mel is a renowned academic scholar of forest school and outdoor play, with a focus on eco-social justice. She investigates how we share and access land, how we experience multi species relations through playful nature-based practice and how children and young people participate in making our worlds as citizens. Mel explores how this place-based access and participation is linked to wellbeing, and how we can overcome the barriers that exist culturally, socially and politically.
Within her company Free Range Creativity, Mel has developed Feralism as a participatory and provocative art form, leading nature-based feral arts experiences. As a consultant, Mel offers training, resources and business support services for practitioners establishing forest kindergartens and nature-based schools.
