    Radical Rest

    Date: Sunday, October 21st
    Time: 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm
    Venue: Watershed

Welcome to the practice of Radical Rest, where we practice the art of meditation through deep relaxation.

Taking the time our of our busy lives may feel like a luxury, but learning how to slow down and rest can radically improve our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing – and it all starts by lying down!

Can you remember a time when you were lying in bed and just dropping off to sleep? Or a time when you woke in the morning, and somehow knew you had slept well, although you had no memory of it? These states are similar to the state we enter when we practice Radical Rest. Similar also to hypnosis, lucid dreaming and trance work, we enter into the ‘hypnagogic state’, the transition between wakefulness and sleep. This means that the body receives the opportunity for deep rest and renewal, whilst the mind enters into the higher states of consciousness.

As well as being deeply restful, Radical Rest can increase creativity, self-esteem, and overall wellbeing as well as helping us become less reactive and more responsive to the situations we face in our lives.

The practice of yoga nidra, which is the heart of Radical Rest, has been proven by research to bring relief from PTSD, anxiety, depression and chronic pain. However, if you have any serious psychiatric or mental health problems, you must consult your doctor or health care professional to check that this workshop is right for you. Please note, this class is not suitable for women over 12 weeks pregnant.

Our yoga programme is sponsored by ClassPass.
