In our yoga practice we move towards balance of body and mind; in many schools of yoga this balance is described by a system of energy centres or chakras thought to be located from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. Rather than chakras being a mystical abstraction we can use these ideas around energy in a really practical way to create a balanced yoga practice.
With each chakra representing an area of the body or energetic principle of our system, we’ll be using simple asana (postures) to explore movement in these regions and working with breath, mudra and mantra to outline how you can use bring a balance, symbolised by the chakras, into your everyday practice. Ultimately finding this balance in mind and body was thought to be the key to being able to recognise more easily our non-dualistic nature; that unity of ourselves with the universal self. Students of all levels very welcome.
