Taking place in Bristol for the first time this October (20th and 21st), Wild & Well is a completely new kind of festival based around four themes – Move, Connect, Eat and Explore – for anyone who wants to live in a ‘happier, healthier, more connected way’. Wild & Well’s Move and Connect events will take place in venues around Bristol’s harbourside – including M-Shed, We The Curious and at the SS Great Britain – with a shuttle bus linking the festival to Ashton Court for its Eat and Explore programme.
The Wild & Well programme is jam-packed with classes and events to help you get active and get outdoors at the same time. Choose from Silent Disco Woodland Workouts, SUP Paddle Boarding on the river, mountain biking around the 850-acre Ashton Court Estate, get primal at a Wild Animal Bootcamp or have a go on the MoveGB Climbing Wall overlooking Bristol’s iconic harbourside. Designed to suit all levels of fitness – from complete novices to fitness geeks – and guaranteed to make you feel good!
Wild & Well has teamed up with Bestival founder Rob da Bank and former Olypmian Tim Weeks to bring SPIINBOX to the SS Great Britain for Wild & Well – a unique spinning studio with classes set to headline DJs. Like a gig, but you’re on a bike! Uniting community through the power of music, the tunes will make you ride like the wind!
An incredible line-up of speakers and experts from all over the world will be tackling a juicy range of topics as part of Wild & Well’s Connect strand. Exploring the world within us and the world around us, looking at how both influence our mental and physical wellbeing, topics will include: ‘The Best Sex Ever!‘; Rethinking Relationships for the Modern World; The Happiness Myth; Nature Connection and Mental Health; Bringing Death into Life and Food: Fetishes, Fads and Feeding the Soul, Ageing Creatively and Reclaiming Your Life.
Wild & Well We have an incredible line-up of yoga workshops and classes on both days of the festival. Taking place at M Shed and Watershed choose from Reggae Yoga, Aroma Yoga, Elemental Flow, a Yoga Cacao Sound Journey, Techno Vinyasa Flow, AcroYoga Play, Yoga Flow with Sound Immersion, Laughter Yoga, Restorative and even Aerial Yoga from the M-Shed Cranes! And there’s also a space dedicated to rest and relaxation – The Cocoon – offering a little oasis of calm in the midst of the festival.
BALANCE YOUR CHI!
It wouldn’t be a wellbeing festival without a bit of Chi balancing but like so much of the Wild & Well programme, ‘It’s wellbeing Jim, but not as we know it!’ The festival’s Vogue-Chi workshop incorporates the principles of both Tai-Chi and Vogue/Ballroom – ‘encouraging participants to fully find new versions of themselves whilst exploring gender, unconventional beauty and shameless self-indulgence in a loving and safe environment’. Or if you prefer a gentler pace, the Tai Chi Tea Party might be more your style, combining the ancient art of Tai Chi with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
THE WILD KITCHEN & THE HEARTH
The festival’s food events will take place in The Wild Kitchen on the lawn in front of Ashton Court Mansion. With a focus on seasonal ingredients, rustic techniques and cooking over fire, The Wild Kitchen and The Hearth (the festival’s fire cooking area) will offer a packed programme of demos and workshops including Sourdough Making, Curing & Smoking, Root to Fruit Eating, Dumpling Making, Nourishing Cakes, Pickling, Raw Deserts and much more.
LOVE FOOD FESTIVAL AT ASHTON COURT MANSION
Love Food Festival is a Bristol institution – attracting thousands of hungry foodies to its seasonal pop-up markets all over the city. For Wild & Well, Love Food will be popping up in Ashton Court Mansion with a carefully curated selection of street food superstars and award-winning local producers. The perfect place to refuel and recharge between festival events!
Whether you’re a nature newbie or a seasoned survivalist, Wild & Well has a jam-packed programme of Explore events to help you connect with your wild side on Ashton Court Estate. Choose from workshops like Survival Skills, Wild Caveman Cooking, Foraging, Mindfulness & Surfing, Awe, Wonder & Stargazing, Planning your Big Adventure, Stepping Over the Threshold and Bristol Zoo’s Barefoot Trail.
THE WOODLAND TRIBE
Wild & Well has plenty on offer for families too with many family-friendly and family-focused events across all four themes. Kids will also have their own dedicated area at Ashton Court with The Woodland Tribe curating an immersive children’s utopia where they will build their own pop-up adventure playground over the weekend using reclaimed wood.
DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!
Music plays a big role in Wild & Well’s fitness strand so there are plenty of opportunities to dance your socks off! With live DJs making an appearance at some of the bigger fitness events, you can get your groove on at HIIT The Decks, Deep House Workout, Techno Yoga, Bollywood Dance, Punk Aerobics, Hip-Hop Yoga, Drum ‘n Bass Workout and the festival’s Rise ‘n Shine Morning Rave.
